The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys were both in the midst of a heated matchup when Dak Prescott broke his ankle. The injury was gruesome, but it’s not the only one that has happened to NFL players this season.
The dak prescott height is a question that has been asked many times. The What Dak Prescott’s gruesome injury was like for the Cowboys, Giants who were there is an article about what happened to Dak Prescott during his game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
FRISCO, Texas (KTRK) — It’s the same opponent. The stadium is the same. This is the same week as the regular season of the NFL.
There’s no way that’s a coincidence.
On Sunday, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys face the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium in Week 5. (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox). However, the quarterback’s memory will be permanently imprinted on Oct. 11, 2020, when he sustained a complex fracture and dislocation of his right ankle in the third quarter, forcing him to miss the remainder of the season.
Without Prescott, the Cowboys went on to win 37-34 against the Giants that day, but they went 4-7 without him the remainder of the season, finishing 6-10.
Prescott is performing at the best level of his career only four games into his 2021 comeback, with 10 touchdown passes and 1,066 yards.
“I’m not going to be naive and say I won’t think about [the injury], but I think more than anything it will be gratitude and thinking about how much of a blessing the last 364 days have been of going through that and overcoming that and becoming, as I continue to say, a better person and a better player,” said Prescott, who signed a four-year, $160 million contract in March. “Whether the injury occurred at home versus [the Giants] or not, it’s something I worry about every warmup and game.”

Garrett’s staff in Dallas included Giants offensive assistants Derek Dooley and Stephen Brown. After a four-year stint in Dallas under Garrett, Marc Colombo became the Giants’ offensive line coach.
“I don’t have the proper words,” Colombo recalled, “but just a surge came over me and I went from the O-line portion of it and threw down my Giants coaching hat and just sort of rushed over there.” “As if I were a ghost, I went white. He’s a great athlete, but he’s even better as a person and a leader for what the Cowboys are trying to do.”
While coaching for the Cowboys, Colombo would bring his daughter, Olivia, and son, Jack, to The Star, Prescott would almost always speak to them, give them a high-five, or encourage them in some manner. Colombo texted Prescott later that night, and the quarterback immediately responded.
“Man, he’s tough,” Colombo remarked. “He looked like he was in a lot of agony… But you know he’s the kind of person who can recover from a serious injury. That person is impossible to rule out. Ever.”
From the suite of Jerry Jones, the owner
Jones would normally be in a smaller, private room a level above the huge midfield suite designated for other family members and visitors in a typical year. He’d be seated beside his sons, Stephen and Jerry Jr. Perhaps a grandchild or other family members might also attend.
The Joneses were in the suite with vice president of player personnel Will McClay and a few others because to the epidemic and social distance regulations. Normally, specific people are allocated seats, but the suite may have been less than one-third full this time.

“”The breath leaves your body because it means so much to the squad,” McClay said. Here’s your undisputed leader, it’s a COVID season, and we’ve had a slew of other ailments and injuries…”
McClay doesn’t complete his idea, but the implication is clear: the Cowboys’ season has been permanently altered.
CEO Stephen Jones was seen embracing his wife, Karen, in front of CBS cameras.
“The ladies in the box were weeping because it’s such a horrible situation, and you feel bad for Dak,” McClay added. “We were all saddened, even the front-office staff. The leader is no longer among us.”
The work, like Moore’s, doesn’t end just because he’s on the bench. Although they have faith in the experienced Dalton, McClay is thinking about possible quarterbacks to add in the back of his mind. The Cowboys had rookie Ben DiNucci on the 53-man roster when Garrett Gilbert was added two days later, and Cooper Rush was brought to the practice squad two weeks later.
From the viewpoint of another quarterback
Alex Smith, a retired NFL quarterback, recalls watching the game from his house in northern Virginia. He has just returned to the Washington Football Team after recovering from a complex fracture of his right tibia and fibula sustained against the Houston Texans on Nov. 18, 2018. He needed 17 operations, the most of them were to remove illnesses that had nearly killed him.
Smith ran onto the FedEx Field field for the first time in almost two years, taking over for Kyle Allen against the Los Angeles Rams, completing a comeback few believed possible.
He instantly remembered his injuries when he watched Prescott get injured.
“It’s hard to tell whether it’s an ankle or a tib[ia]-fib[ula] at that stage,” he added. “Obviously, with all I’d gone through and still trying to make a return, to see that happen, I was certainly hurting for him.”
Prior to the accident, Smith had a relationship with Prescott. Dan Mullen, the current head coach of the Florida Gators, was his quarterbacks coach at Utah and Prescott’s head coach at Mississippi State. Brian Johnson, Smith’s closest buddy, was Prescott’s quarterbacks coach.

Smith stated, “I heard so many great things about Dak as a person and as a player.” “I’d always been a huge admirer from afar and had gotten to know him via the league.”
He considered contacting Prescott right after the incident, but “I didn’t want to put my pain and the infections on his injuries onto Dak.” They eventually communicated, and they continue to do so via Mullen and Johnson, who is now the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. Prescott has said that Smith’s comeback has aided his rehabilitation.
Smith, more than anybody else, understood Prescott’s emotions as he was wheeled off the field.
“People don’t understand there are so many variables,” Smith added. “‘Oh, the doctors will put me back together and I’ll be back for spring ball,’ I remember thinking as I sat on the field after breaking my leg. That’s something I recall thinking. I recall being disappointed because I shattered my leg, but the doctors would repair it. All I could think about was spring ball. We just do not know.”
Prescott returned to practice in the spring following his surgery and is doing well. Smith praised his performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the season opener.
“It’s strange, but one thing I don’t think America really comprehends or appreciates is being struck,” Smith added. “As a quarterback, we make a career playing tackle football. We wear this shirt to practice so that we are not approached or touched. Last year, I didn’t have a preseason. This year, Dak didn’t have a preseason. So, as we all watched on live television, on one of the greatest platforms in the opening game versus the reigning champions, we witnessed him surpass that last barrier and break through that final mental block right in front of our eyes.”
Perhaps Sunday will be Prescott’s last test, 364 days after his injury.
“I didn’t have to play the Texans again, so it’d be difficult for me to comment, but I’d be lying if I claimed I didn’t recall the hit.” Smith stated of the hit that fractured his leg, “Kareem Jackson and J.J. Watt.” “I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t feel strange lining up against those men again, but I didn’t have to.”
“[Dak] has previously performed in that venue, therefore I believe he has already crossed that bridge. I’m sure it’s someplace in his mind if I have to face that opponent again. I don’t believe it’s as difficult as being tackled or returning to that pitch, particularly the way he’s playing today. I’m certain he’s moved on from that.”
